Chris’s parents had never approved of Amanda. So when she revealed at a family dinner that she was pregnant, they exploded, accusing her of betrayal—armed with shocking medical information that threatened to destroy everything.
Standing at the door of his parents’ mansion, Chris sighed heavily. “Let’s just get this over with.”
Amanda squeezed his arm gently. “They’re your parents, honey. We just want them to accept me before the wedding, right?”
“I don’t care anymore,” Chris muttered, his jaw tight. “If they can’t respect the woman I love, then I don’t need them.”
“Please, Chris. Think about the future—about our kids. Family matters,” Amanda urged with a hopeful smile, unaware of how tense her fiancé had become.
When Chris’s mother finally opened the door, her forced smile barely masked her disapproval. The Castillos had despised Amanda from the moment Chris chose her over Ciara—the wealthy daughter of a respected family their parents had always envisioned for him. Amanda’s world tilted. Chris sat frozen, unable to speak. He had just gotten medical results confirming infertility—but they had been trying for months.
