What began as a stubborn cough quickly escalated into exhaustion, sleepless nights, and eventually, collapse. But it wasn’t until a freak accident that doctors finally uncovered the truth — and what Deborah Finck chose to do next would leave a lasting impact on thousands.
Deborah Finck, a wife and mother of six, spent five years fighting a rare and aggressive cancer that baffled doctors for months. At first, her symptoms—fatigue, breathlessness, coughing—seemed like nothing more than everyday illnesses. She was repeatedly misdiagnosed with asthma, bronchitis, COPD, and respiratory infections.
Despite countless visits and treatments, nothing helped. Her condition worsened, but every test failed to reveal the underlying cause. “It was painful to go through and heartbreaking to watch,” said a family member.
Then came the accident that changed everything.
While out with her husband, a waiter accidentally bumped into Deborah, breaking her rib. The injury required a CT scan—and that’s when doctors finally discovered a mass the size of a plum in her pulmonary artery.
Initially thought to be an embolism, the mass turned out to be something even more mysterious. A pulmonary specialist admitted they had never seen anything like it. Multiple doctors came and went, often saying the same haunting phrase: “This is beyond us.”
Though Deborah was in a major hospital, she was left without a diagnosis or clear path forward.
