Nurse Mix-Up Leaves New Mom Horrified After She’s Given the Wrong Baby

Posted on July 8, 2025 By admin

Just moments before being discharged, Lucy’s newborn twins were brought to her after a routine check by the nurse. But when the nurse returned, Lucy’s world turned upside down—she was handed two baby girls, even though she had delivered one boy and one girl.

Lucy and her husband, Ross, had long hoped for children. When they finally conceived twins—a boy and a girl according to the ultrasound—they were filled with joy and eagerly awaited their arrival.

But nothing could prepare them for what happened next.

When the nurse, Savannah, returned the babies after a postnatal check, Lucy’s face went ghost-white.

“Where’s my son?” Lucy demanded, panic rising in her voice. “Who is this other baby girl? What did you do with my child?”

The nurse, without lifting her eyes from the paperwork, replied calmly, “These are your daughters, ma’am. I’ve reviewed the documents. There’s no mistake.”

Lucy was livid. “That’s impossible! I have every medical report confirming I was expecting a boy and a girl—and that’s what I was told right after delivery!”

It was then Lucy noticed the nurse’s hands tremble slightly, and fear flicker in her eyes. Before she could press further, Dr. Linda Carter entered the room.

“Ma’am, please lower your voice,” the doctor said firmly. “This is a hospital—there are other patients who need peace and quiet.”

Lucy shot her a furious look. “Your nurse just brought me someone else’s baby and told me I’m wrong! You expect me to stay quiet? Should I call the hospital director and tell him what’s going on?”

Ross stepped in, trying to stay composed. “Doctor, we’re not trying to start a scene—but this is serious. We were told we had a son. If we don’t get answers immediately, we’ll involve the authorities.”

Dr. Carter tried to diffuse the situation. “Let’s stay calm. I’m sure this is just a mix-up. Savannah has been part of this hospital for a long time. It could be a simple paperwork error.” She then turned to the nurse. “Savannah, may I see the documents?”

But instead of handing them over, Savannah hesitated, her words faltering. “There’s really no need, ma’am… I already verified them.”

That hesitation was enough for Dr. Carter to sense something was off. She gently insisted on seeing the paperwork—and once she read through it, her expression changed.

“You’re right,” she said to Lucy, flipping quickly through the pages. “There’s been a mix-up. It seems Savannah confused your file with another patient—also named Lucy Matthews. That’s where the error came from.”

Lucy glared at the nurse. “I hope this hospital reevaluates who it hires. This could have been devastating.”

Dr. Carter apologized sincerely as she turned to Savannah, who now stood frozen and ashamed.
