Reasons to Avoid Buying Rotisserie Chicken from Walmart

Posted on March 1, 2025 By admin

Why You Should Rethink Buying Rotisserie Chicken from Walmart

Walmart’s rotisserie chicken may seem like a bargain, but it’s worth reconsidering. At $4.98, you get a smaller bird—just 1 lb. 13 oz.—compared to the 3-pound chickens available at Sam’s Club and Costco for the same price.

Beyond size, taste is another factor. Reviews for Walmart’s rotisserie chicken are mixed, with complaints about it being overcooked or undercooked. Meanwhile, Costco consistently ranks highest in flavor and juiciness, leaving Walmart’s version in last place.

However, Walmart does stand out in one aspect—sodium content. A 3-ounce serving contains 690 mg of sodium, more than Sam’s Club (550 mg) and Costco (460 mg). For a lower-sodium option, Whole Foods offers a rotisserie chicken with just 280 mg per 1/4 of a bird, making it a healthier choice.
