A handwritten note, left on the kitchen counter, right under a coffee mug. I unfolded it, expecting a simple thank-you. Instead, I read:

  3. Electricity: $12

  4. Toilet paper: $3

  5. Laundry detergent: $5

  6. Toothpaste: $4

TOTAL: $40
