Mother of British influencer, 23, who is facing a firing squad in Dubai discloses what truly occurred inside her boyfriend’s apartment.
A 23-year-old British TikTok influencer is facing execution by firing squad in Dubai after being accused of murdering a man she asserts repeatedly assaulted her, and new revelations about the victim’s criminal history are raising significant doubts about the events that transpired.
Brooke George connected with 26-year-old William Treeby on Facebook in April. Within a few weeks, he had introduced her to his family and invited her to Dubai, promising her modeling opportunities. Her initial visit lasted around a week and was enjoyable, with George later describing it as the best time of her life.
However, her second visit, which began just four days prior to the deadly incident, was markedly different.
What George claims occurred
According to the advocacy group Detained in Dubai, Treeby became increasingly domineering during her second trip. George states she found out he had booked her a one-way ticket, leaving her anxious to return home.
After a night out at a bar in Dubai on June 22, she alleges he assaulted her in the car on the return journey and continued the attack at the apartment.
George had already contacted her family in distress after being repeatedly struck and had arranged a flight back home. She returned to the apartment only to retrieve her passport, but Treeby refused to give it to her and punched her forcefully in the face. Fearing for her safety, she grabbed a kitchen knife that was within reach.
Her mother, Thereza, 55, told The Sun that she could see her daughter’s eye was severely swollen and beginning to close when they spoke that evening.
“I have never seen my daughter so terrified,” she remarked.
“She was sobbing uncontrollably.”
George was detained at Dubai International Airport hours later while attempting to board a flight back to the UK.
What transpired in the apartment
Thereza also disclosed that during her daughter’s second visit, George was left alone in the apartment for most of the day while Treeby went out for what he claimed was work.
Other men resided at the property and frequently came and went, having conversations that they would step outside to continue. A second man also drove the couple around during this period, which had not occurred during the first visit.
“The atmosphere of the apartment and the presence of the other men felt different,” Thereza noted.
Neither George nor her mother were aware of what Treeby did for work in Dubai.
Treeby’s criminal background
What has significantly bolstered George’s account is Treeby’s history. Following his death, it was revealed that he had a prior conviction for violent crimes in the UK and was awaiting trial on separate drug conspiracy charges at the time he died.
Detained in Dubai has urged UAE authorities to conduct a forensic examination of all digital communications and devices related to Treeby.
Friends of Treeby have contested George’s narrative, portraying him as a good person who treated her well and questioning why she would have flown back to Dubai just four days before the incident if she genuinely felt threatened.
His mother, Karen, expressed publicly:
“My dear son, I’m shattered. Rest in eternal peace, my Bill. You will be deeply missed and loved by us all.”
What comes next
George has been charged with premeditated murder and is currently held at Bur Dubai prison. If found guilty, she faces execution by firing squad. Even if she escapes the death penalty, a murder conviction in Dubai carries a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Radha Stirling, CEO of Detained in Dubai, stated that authorities should regard George as a domestic violence survivor while the investigation is ongoing. The UK Foreign Office has confirmed it is in touch with UAE authorities.
