Son Placed His Mother in a Nursing Home, Visiting Only Occasionally

A Son Sent His Mother to a Nursing Home—Her Final Words Left Him Shattered

A man, overwhelmed by life’s demands, made the difficult decision to place his elderly mother in a nursing home, visiting only occasionally. One day, he received an urgent call—her health had deteriorated rapidly. Rushing to her bedside, he tearfully asked what he could do for her.

With a piercing gaze, his mother made a few requests: she wanted the fans replaced because she often struggled to breathe and the refrigerator fixed because spoiled food had left her hungry.

Her words stunned him. He hadn’t realized she had suffered in silence. When he asked why she never told him before, her response sent shivers down his spine:

“I know I am dying, but I think of you—when your own children send you here one day… At least then, you will have better conditions. What you give is what you receive.”

Her heartbreaking words made him realize his mistake—he should have cherished her final years by keeping her close.

Let this story serve as a reminder: our parents gave us everything. The least we can do is ensure they spend their final years surrounded by love, not loneliness.
