A large collection of records connected to Jeffrey Epstein has brought to light a long list of prominent British figures. These include members of the royal family, influential cultural personalities, and several political leaders.
This archive, made up of 23,000 files, was provided to the U.S. House Oversight Committee by the Epstein estate.
According to a joint announcement from the U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI, investigators carried out an extensive review of databases, computer drives, storage facilities, and physical documents.
Their efforts uncovered more than 300 gigabytes of information, along with a significant amount of highly disturbing material, including illegal content involving minors. The FBI explained:
“Teams of agents, analysts, attorneys, and privacy and civil liberties specialists reviewed the digital data and physical documents carefully, working to release as much information to the public as possible while making sure victims remained protected.”
Despite the seriousness of the findings, officials highlighted that many names appeared for reasons unrelated to criminal activity, such as social ties, public appearances, or legal connections.
Authorities continue to emphasise that being mentioned in the files should not be interpreted as proof of wrongdoing. Individuals were referenced in a wide range of situations, from scheduling notes and correspondence to media commentary and event guest lists.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Listed in the Records
Among the most notable British figures included in the documents was the former Duke of York, whose name appeared 173 times. His association with Epstein has been widely discussed due to allegations made by Virginia Giuffre.
In 2022, Giuffre filed a civil suit in the United States, claiming that Mountbatten-Windsor sexually assaulted her at age 17 after she was allegedly trafficked to him by Epstein. He denied the accusations.
Ultimately, the case did not go to trial. Instead, a settlement was reached privately. While the exact amount was not revealed, legal analysts suggested that the total cost to the former royal, including donations and legal expenses, likely surpassed £7 million.
The settlement did not include any admission of guilt. As part of the agreement, he also committed to making a significant contribution to Giuffre’s charity focused on supporting victims’ rights.
