My Boyfriend Threw Me Out When I Got Pregnant — 26 Years Later, My Son Confronted Him

Tina was convinced she was living her version of a fairy tale after marrying her high school love. But after being thrown out by her husband and forced to raise her son on her own, she would eventually come to understand just how heavy the consequences of one’s actions can truly be.
Ever since she was young, Tina had imagined herself walking down the aisle in a lavish white gown, surrounded by friends and family. Sadly, that dream never came true. Instead, she secretly ran away and married her high school sweetheart, Richard, when she was only 18 years old.
Richard came from an extremely wealthy family, and the sudden decision to elope felt rushed and unusual to Tina. Still, she chose to ignore her doubts because she was in love. Money and status had never mattered to her—she cared only for Richard and believed their love was enough.
After a few months of marriage, Tina discovered she was pregnant. Although the couple had never discussed starting a family, Tina was overjoyed by the news and eagerly prepared herself to tell her husband.
“What do you mean you’re pregnant?” Richard asked sharply, clearly irritated.
“I thought you’d be happy,” Tina replied gently. “I know this wasn’t planned, but I always believed you were a family-oriented person. You’d be a wonderful father.”
“A family man?” Richard snapped. “The whole point of marrying you was to get away from the family I already have! How could you do this to me?”
His reaction left Tina stunned. She had never heard him speak with such cruelty before. For a moment, she wondered if this was the real Richard finally revealing himself—but she quickly dismissed the thought. She convinced herself he simply needed time to come to terms with the news and that patience was all that was required.
The following evening, Richard came home drunk and, without warning, ordered Tina to leave their apartment.
“Get out, Tina! If I ever see you here again, you’ll regret it!” he shouted.
Tina didn’t argue. She quietly gathered her things and left, believing he would calm down and realize his mistake. A few days later, she returned, only to discover the locks had been changed. Desperate, she reached out to Richard’s parents, hoping they could help—but the phone call crushed her.
“Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Tinney. I’ve been trying to get in touch with Richard. We recently—” Tina began before being abruptly interrupted.
“The audacity of you, young lady!” Mrs. Tinney shouted. “Calling us after everything you’ve done to our Richy!”
“I’m sorry—what do you mean?” Tina pleaded. “I don’t know what you’ve been told. Please let me explain—”
“There’s nothing to explain!” Mrs. Tinney snapped. “We know you cheated on him and got pregnant with another man’s child. Never contact this family again, or we’ll take legal action against you!”
In that instant, Tina understood the painful truth: she and her unborn child were completely alone.
Years went by, and Tina dedicated herself to raising her son with every ounce of love and strength she had left. Her son, Greg, made the struggle easier. Despite their financial hardships, he was remarkably aware of their situation and always tried to help wherever he could, easing some of the weight on Tina’s shoulders.
Tina never hid the truth from Greg about what had happened between her and his father. Greg deeply appreciated his mother’s sacrifices and worked alongside her to keep food on the table. At just 15 years old, he landed his first job as a caddy at a nearby golf course.
Although he began working at a young age, Greg never allowed it to interfere with his education. He wasn’t the top student in his classes, but he developed an exceptional work ethic. Eventually, Greg graduated high school with honors and soon after used his savings to start his own business.
Tina couldn’t have been prouder of the man her son was becoming. Still, she worried about the resentment she saw growing inside him toward the father who had abandoned them.
Greg rarely spoke about it, but whenever his father—or even the concept of fatherhood—came up, Tina noticed the bitterness burning behind her son’s eyes.
As time passed, Greg’s business continued to thrive, growing more successful each year. He eventually became quite wealthy and even hired Tina to work at one of his company’s main offices. By the age of 26, Greg was among the most successful people under 30 in their city.
One day, Greg decided it was finally time to confront the man who had walked away. He had been quietly tracking his father’s whereabouts for some time, though he had never known exactly when he would make his move.
Greg parked near Richard’s driveway, gripping the baseball bat resting on the passenger seat. He didn’t yet know what he planned to do once he saw him, but the rage inside him burned intensely. Whatever happened next, he knew it wouldn’t be peaceful.
As he sat there, wrestling with his thoughts and the path he was about to take, something caught his eye—something that shook him deeply.
Greg had never been a violent person, not as a child and not as an adult. But this wound had festered for so long that he had never imagined it could ever heal.
Years of pain told him that Richard deserved everything that bat could deliver. But when Greg saw his father step outside to take out the trash—weak, poorly dressed, and visibly broken—he felt something shift inside him.
In that moment, Greg realized how far his desire for revenge had led him. The man who had nearly ruined his and his mother’s lives was already destroyed. And even if there was still some version of that man left inside, Greg questioned whether he was worth sacrificing everything he had worked so hard to build.
Greg noticed a “For Sale” sign posted in the yard. He set the bat down and reached for his phone. After calling the number, he learned that Richard was drowning in debt and that the house was being seized and sold to repay his loans.
With a clear conscience and a sense of relief, Greg left the property—grateful that he hadn’t committed what could have been the greatest mistake of his life. Not long after, he purchased the house himself.
A few days later, Richard arrived at the real estate office to finalize the sale. His heart dropped when he walked in and saw Tina and her son waiting inside.
Richard was speechless—though words would have done little to help him. Moments after entering, Greg introduced himself and told Richard it was time for him to leave the property.
“If I ever see you again,” Greg said calmly, “we’ll have a problem.”
The words echoed in Tina’s mind as she watched Richard walk away in humiliation, just as she had been forced to do so many years earlier. The irony was almost unbelievable. What were the odds? she thought.
