Cat keeps crying at the window until his family spots the babies who need help

A few years ago, a woman named Erin, who lives in New York City, began noticing something strange about her cat, Baebo. He wouldn’t stop meowing at one particular window in their home. This behavior was completely out of character for him, which immediately told Erin that something unusual was happening.
“He was being so loud,” Erin explained in a video. “Our neighbors even started texting us, asking what was going on because they could hear a cat crying nonstop from our yard.”
At first, Erin couldn’t understand what had caught Baebo’s attention. But it didn’t take long for her to realize that he wasn’t fixated on the window itself. He was trying to alert her to something important.
A feral cat had recently given birth to a litter of kittens nearby. Erin later learned that neighbors had already managed to rescue most of the kittens, but two had been left behind. Without Erin knowing it, those remaining kittens had been staying in her yard, directly within Baebo’s view from the window.
Once Erin understood what Baebo was trying to communicate, she and her family acted immediately. Her daughter Zoë, who loves cats just as much as Baebo does, was especially worried about the kittens’ safety.
“I was really scared because it was already late fall and snow was coming soon,” Zoë said. “But thankfully, rescuers were able to step in and help.”

Erin and her neighbors managed to tempt one of the kittens inside by using food. They named the little one Waffles. The second kitten, however, was much more cautious. It took several traps, days of patience, and repeated attempts before they were finally able to bring him safely indoors.
The family chose the name Lupin for the second kitten, inspired by a classic French character known for clever escapes, which perfectly matched the kitten’s personality. Lupin needed some time to adjust to life inside the house, but having his sister Waffles nearby helped him slowly relax and feel more at ease with Erin’s family.
After a few months of caring for both kittens, Erin’s neighbors decided to officially adopt Waffles. During the holiday season, Erin surprised her children with the news that Lupin would be staying with them permanently. The kids were thrilled to welcome a new cat into their home.
“They’re completely my family,” Zoë said. “I honestly love them so much, even more than chocolate.”
As Lupin continued to gain confidence, he formed a close bond with Baebo. Before long, the two cats became inseparable, spending their days playing together and curling up side by side to nap.
If Baebo hadn’t kept meowing at the window to alert everyone to the kittens in need, Erin and her family might never have discovered them or brought Lupin inside. Thanks to Baebo, Lupin found a home, and now the two cats get to grow up as brothers.
“It really felt like Baebo saved them,” Erin said.
