Australian cinematographer Jamie Perkins and South Sudanese-born model Nikki Thot once seemed like the perfect couple. Their fairytale wedding, adorable daughters, and viral social media presence made them an internet sensation. But behind the cameras, their life was far more complex than it appeared.
They met on MySpace in 2009—Nikki, 19 and just starting her modeling career, and Jamie, 25, working as a cinematographer. They married in 2010, and in 2016 and 2018 welcomed daughters Ava and Zoe. Their viral proposal and wedding videos turned their family into online stars, sharing daily life, adventures, and milestones with millions of viewers.
Yet, the pressure of fame and maintaining an online persona took its toll. Nikki, having grown up as a refugee in Australia, faced criticism and online harassment, particularly because of her race. Jamie later admitted that vlogging doesn’t capture everything—many struggles stayed private.
Over time, cracks appeared in their marriage. Balancing fame, parenting, and private challenges proved difficult, and by 2019 they separated. Jamie later accused Nikki of infidelity and cited his own struggles with PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Nikki denied the allegations, emphasizing her efforts to protect their children and defending herself publicly.
Today, Jamie and Nikki lead separate lives but remain dedicated parents to Ava and Zoe. Their story highlights the reality behind viral fame: the picture-perfect image doesn’t always reflect private struggles. While their fairytale marriage ended, their commitment to their children endures, ensuring love remains at the center of their story.
