Now that Eric and Courtney Waldrop’s nine children — from their oldest son to the well-known sextuplets — are growing up, fans can hardly believe how much they’ve changed.
When Sweet Home Sextuplets first aired, the series gave viewers a front-row seat to the chaos and joy of raising nine little ones. From endless bottles and late-night feedings to an avalanche of diapers, the Waldrops’ lives were anything but ordinary.
Seven years have passed since the cameras stopped rolling, yet the Waldrop family’s journey continues to unfold. Their nine kids have blossomed into a lively and unique group. Here’s a look at how they got here and what life looks like for them now.
The Beginning of the Waldrop Story
Eric and Courtney never set out to be in the spotlight, but their path from small-town Alabama to national fame captured hearts everywhere.
Life in Albertville had been quiet until one extraordinary pregnancy changed everything. Practically overnight, the Waldrops transformed from a family of five into a bustling household of 11.
The couple’s story started long before fame — they first met as eighth graders and tied the knot in 2004. Their first son, Saylor, was born in December 2008, followed by twins Wales and Bridge in January 2012.
Courtney’s road to motherhood wasn’t simple. After enduring several painful miscarriages, she underwent fertility treatments, which led to the birth of her twins. Heartbreak struck again with another miscarriage before the pregnancy that would redefine their family.
In 2017, doctors revealed she was carrying sextuplets — three boys and three girls. The news was overwhelming. As a petite woman, a teacher, and already a mom of three, Courtney admitted she was terrified.
“I was scared to death. My first thought was how I was going to carry six babies safely — for me and for them. We didn’t know what the outcome would be.”
The pregnancy was high-risk, filled with fear but also hope. Courtney later described it as a mix of “worry, joy, excitement, and anxiety.”
At just under 30 weeks, the impossible became reality: Blu, Layke, Tag, Rawlings, Rayne, and Rivers entered the world at Huntsville Hospital. Though premature, they were healthy, and the family felt immense relief.
From that moment on, the Waldrops were a family of 11 — a number that quickly drew national attention.
Reality TV Fame
It wasn’t long before TLC introduced the Waldrops on Sweet Home Sextuplets, which documented the family’s daily ups and downs. Viewers fell in love with their humility, faith, and the cheerful chaos of raising nine kids.
Courtney and Eric never aimed for celebrity status. “We don’t like the word celebrity,” Eric once explained. “We just wanted to share what God has done for us and how blessed we are.”
The couple’s strong relationship also became a central theme of the show. “Honestly, our marriage is stronger now than ever,” Courtney said. “He’s my rock. We lean on each other because we have to.”
Beyond the family itself, the community played a huge role in their story. After the sextuplet pregnancy was announced, neighbors organized a 5K fundraiser to help with expenses. Once the babies arrived, friends and relatives pitched in with childcare. Later, the Waldrops re-hosted the 5K to give back to local organizations — a gesture of gratitude.
Fans still recall one of the most iconic episodes: the family’s very first outing with all nine children. Preparing for church on that Sunday morning felt like a military mission — 12 pacifiers, eight bottles, mountains of diapers, and spare clothes for each child. It was a milestone that perfectly captured the love and teamwork keeping their family strong.
Now, seven years later, the Waldrops have found their rhythm. Each child has grown into their own personality, and together they form a vibrant, close-knit crew.
The Sextuplets at Seven
The three girls — Rawlings, Rayne, and Rivers — have fallen in love with dance. In May 2025, the trio appeared in bright, sprinkle-themed costumes with orange tutus, beaming after their fourth recital performance.
Though the household is always hectic, Courtney shared that her daughters have learned to “roll with the chaos” and enjoy their passions.
The three boys — Blu, Layke, and Tag — have developed a love for baseball. Recently, they joined their older brothers on the field, meaning six Waldrop boys now sport matching jerseys. Though still the youngest of the bunch, the boys are finding confidence as they step up to the plate.
This past February, the sextuplets turned seven. Videos showed them celebrating with cupcakes and decorations, after weeks of begging their parents about when the party would be. By April, photos of all six lined up in matching spring outfits had fans marveling at how much they’ve grown.
One follower commented, “I still remember them as tiny babies on the show. Time flies!” Another wrote simply, “They are growing up so fast!”
Courtney also shared a montage of the sextuplets that sparked a flood of comments about their eye colors. Two of the six have striking blue eyes while the others have brown — a detail that fascinated followers.
“Rawlings’ eyes are just stunning,” one person remarked, while another noted, “It’s so unique that only two of them have blue eyes.”
The Older Three
Saylor, the oldest, celebrated his 16th birthday in December 2024. In photos, he looked confident and mature, described by his parents as “a wonderful young man” and “a role model for his younger siblings.”
Wales and Bridge, the twins, turned 13 in January 2025. In snapshots surrounded by fall leaves, the boys stood side by side, resembling both each other and their grandfather and his twin. Courtney described them as “inseparable” and “bursting with energy,” calling them a true double blessing after her earlier miscarriages.
A Family Still Growing Together
From birthdays to baseball diamonds, from dance recitals to teenage milestones, the Waldrop children are thriving. Each year brings new challenges, but also new joys.
Through it all, Eric and Courtney’s faith, marriage, and community support have remained at the center of their journey. Their nine children — once tiny stars of a reality show — are now growing into strong, spirited individuals with their own dreams and talents.
What began as one couple’s dream of a big family has turned into a remarkable story of resilience, faith, and love. And seven years after the world first met the Waldrops, their story is far from over.
