Crunchy Caramel Chocolate Bars

These bars bring together the perfect blend of textures and flavors—a buttery, crumbly base, a luscious layer of caramel, chunks of rich chocolate, and a topping of melted chocolate chips. Adding nuts is optional, but they give an extra crunch and depth of flavor. Quick to put together, these treats are ideal whenever you’re craving something sweet and indulgent.

Ingredients:

Ingredient Amount
All-Purpose Flour 2 cups
Brown Sugar 1/2 cup
Unsalted Butter, melted 1 cup (2 sticks)
Caramel Sauce 1 cup
Chocolate Chunks 1 cup
Chopped Nuts (optional) 1/2 cup
Chocolate Chips 1/2 cup

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the pan: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray or line it with parchment paper to make removal easier.
  3. Mix the crust: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, and melted butter. Stir until the mixture comes together and has a crumbly texture.
  4. Form the base: Press the crumb mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Bake the crust: Place in the oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges turn a light golden color.
  6. Add caramel: Take the crust out of the oven and immediately pour the caramel sauce evenly across the warm base.
  7. Layer chocolate and nuts: Sprinkle the chocolate chunks over the caramel, followed by the chopped nuts if you’re using them.
  8. Bake again: Return the dish to the oven for another 10 minutes, until the caramel bubbles around the edges and the chocolate has softened.
  9. Top with chocolate chips: Remove from the oven and scatter the chocolate chips on top. Allow them to sit for 1–2 minutes to soften.
  10. Spread the chocolate (optional): If you like, use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate chips across the surface for an even layer.
  11. Cool completely: Let the bars cool fully at room temperature so the caramel and chocolate can set, making them easier to cut.
  12. Slice and enjoy: Once cooled, cut into squares or rectangles and serve. These bars are chewy, crunchy, and wonderfully chocolatey!
