Recently, Hall prepared for a particularly unique mission — a triple dog rescue in a small, gated community. As the founder of Logan’s Legacy, Hall was no stranger to challenging cases, but this time was different. Instead of rescuing just one or two dogs, there were three, and they were all fiercely protective of one another.
Hall first heard about the dogs from a compassionate neighbor in the community. This Good Samaritan explained that the dogs had been abandoned by their previous owners, left with nothing but a blanket, a cardboard box, and each other for comfort.
“They literally just stayed there,” Hall told The Dodo. “They were so scared.”
The three dogs would curl up together on the blanket, shivering, trying to keep warm as they waited in vain for their family to return.
As the days went by, the residents of the gated neighborhood became increasingly concerned and desperate to help. They tried to approach the dogs, but the animals refused to let anyone near them.
“Nobody could touch them,” Hall said. “They would run and hide, then eventually come back.”
The neighbors did what they could — they placed a big pile of kibble next to the blanket, set out a bowl of fresh water, and then reached out to Hall for help.
Hall headed to the neighborhood immediately after receiving the call. She found the spot where the dogs were said to be living, but at first, they were nowhere in sight.
“I saw the blanket, but I didn’t see them,” Hall recalled. “So I got out of my car to take a closer look, and then they all just woke up. They had been underneath the blanket, cuddled together.”
It had recently rained in the Southern California area, and the dogs were clearly doing everything they could to keep warm. Hall quickly realized that rescuing all three at once would be tricky because of their strong bond, but she was determined to try.
She set up two humane traps, and within minutes, one of the dogs walked right into one of them. This caught everyone — including the other two dogs — off guard.
“The first one went in so fast, and then that’s all the other two cared about,” Hall explained. “They ignored the other trap completely and just kept circling the one their friend was in.”
The two remaining dogs refused to go near the empty trap, even though it was filled with food. They wouldn’t leave their friend’s side.
“I put their friend’s trap behind the empty one and tried to get them to go in, but they wouldn’t,” Hall said. “They just wanted to be near their friend. It was so adorable, but also heartbreaking.”
After several failed attempts, Hall decided on a new approach. She placed the occupied trap inside her van and waited for the remaining two to follow it. Hiding nearby, she watched as they eventually climbed into the van one by one.
“Finally, they did it,” Hall said. “They went all the way to the back, and I closed the door behind them.”
Hall knew they would be glad to reunite with their friend, but she didn’t realize how touching the moment would be until she saw it for herself.
“When I got in the van, the two dogs were jumping on their friend’s trap, so I opened it for them,” Hall recalled. “They all immediately snuggled together. They were just so happy to be with each other again.”
The dogs — later named Naomi, Adam, and Jacob — were taken to Camino Pet Hospital for emergency evaluations. The vets determined they were senior dogs and in urgent need of dental care, but otherwise in good health.
Now, the trio spends their days at the vet clinic, napping in cozy piles or giving affectionate kisses to the staff. They are ready for foster or adoption, but Hall is holding out for a family willing to take all three so they can remain together.
“I’d love for them to stay together because they’re so bonded,” Hall said. “It’s clear they’re related and a family. They just love each other so much.”
For now, the three remain at the clinic, awaiting the start of their next chapter. Whether or not they find a forever home together remains to be seen, but in the meantime, they’re cherishing every moment — one warm, loving cuddle pile at a time.
