Nurse Hands New Mom the Wrong Babies — What Happens Next Turns Her Pale

Posted on July 12, 2025 By admin

When a nurse returned Lucy’s newborns after a routine postnatal exam, she expected to see the son and daughter she had just delivered. Instead, she was handed two baby girls—and immediately, her world tilted.

Lucy and her husband Ross had been trying for a baby for years. So when they found out they were not only pregnant but expecting twins—a boy and a girl—they were overjoyed. Every ultrasound confirmed it, and the couple had been eagerly anticipating the moment they’d hold both children in their arms.

That moment came… and then shattered.

After the nurse, Savannah, returned from checking the babies, she gently placed two infants in Lucy’s arms. But instead of her son and daughter, she was holding two girls. Lucy froze. Her face went pale.

“Where’s my son?” she asked, her voice trembling. “Who is this other baby girl?”

“These are your daughters, ma’am,” the nurse said, still looking at the medical chart in her hands. “I’ve verified the paperwork. There’s no mistake.”

Lucy’s heart pounded. “What are you talking about? I have documentation that confirms I was having a boy and a girl! I was told the same thing after giving birth. This is wrong!”

Savannah finally looked up, and Lucy caught a flicker of something—guilt? Fear? But before she could say more, Dr. Linda Carter entered the room.

“Ma’am, please keep your voice down,” the doctor said calmly. “This is a hospital. We need to maintain a peaceful environment.”

Lucy turned to her, eyes blazing. “Your nurse gave me the wrong baby! And now you want me to stay quiet? Should I report this to the head of the hospital?”

Ross stepped in beside his wife. “We’re not trying to start anything, but this is serious. If our son isn’t returned immediately, we’ll have to involve the authorities.”

Dr. Carter nodded slowly. “Let’s not jump to conclusions. I know Savannah well—she’s been with us a long time. Maybe she made an honest mistake with the records.” She turned to Savannah. “Can I see the paperwork, please?”

Savannah hesitated. “There’s no need, ma’am… I already reviewed it. Everything checks out.”

Dr. Carter’s expression changed. Something was off. “Let me see it anyway,” she said gently, reaching for the documents.

Reluctantly, Savannah handed them over. As the doctor flipped through the file, her eyes widened slightly. “Just a moment,” she said, flipping more pages.

After a few moments, she looked up. “It appears there’s been a mix-up. There’s another patient named Lucy Matthews. Savannah must have confused the two files.”

Lucy let out a slow, shaky breath. “Next time, maybe make sure your staff pays attention. This isn’t just paperwork—it’s our children.”

“I completely understand,” Dr. Carter said, turning to Savannah with a look that said this wasn’t over. “And I truly apologize. We’ll resolve this right away.”
