Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos tied the knot on June 27, 2025, in a glamorous ceremony held in Venice, Italy. One noticeable break from tradition was that Lauren chose not to carry a bouquet as she walked down the aisle.
The reason for this choice was both simple and deeply meaningful. Lauren shared with Vogue that the bouquet didn’t fit with the vision she had for her wedding look, which was inspired by 1950s brides. She specifically admired Sophia Loren’s iconic style—her hands in a prayer pose, wearing a high-neck lace dress—and decided that was the vibe she wanted for herself.
Beyond aesthetics, Lauren’s decision reflected a larger shift influenced by her life experiences and age. At 55, she wanted to honor who she is now, rather than stick to all conventional wedding traditions. A major influence was her recent journey to space aboard Bezos’s Blue Origin rocket, which she described as a profoundly transformative experience that changed her both visually and spiritually.
This new outlook transformed her wedding dress vision from wanting something “simple and sexy” to something that captured a meaningful moment and her current self. Lauren worked closely with Dolce & Gabbana designers for over a year and a half to create her dress, drawing inspiration from Sophia Loren’s wedding dress in the 1958 film Houseboat.
Though Lauren and Jeff omitted some customs, like the bridal bouquet, they still embraced others—such as the groom not seeing the bride beforehand and the “something borrowed, something blue” tradition. Lauren’s “something borrowed” was a pair of white gold Dolce earrings with diamonds cut from the same stone, while her “something blue” was an item she took with her on her space flight.
The wedding was a multi-day celebration featuring several gowns from top designers like Dior, Alexander McQueen, Schiaparelli, Versace, and Oscar de la Renta, including one inspired by Rita Hayworth’s 1946 Gilda.
