One quiet afternoon, 74-year-old Gloria was sipping her coffee by the window when her caretaker, Sophie, rushed in.
“Mrs. Watson, your grandson is here to visit!”
It had been over a year since anyone had come to see Gloria. Hearing that Todd had arrived stirred little excitement in her — she knew exactly why he was there. For Todd and his wife, Natasha, money had always been their priority.
Sophie asked if she needed help to the lobby. Gloria, gathering her strength, replied, “I’ll manage, dear. I need to look my best — it’s been so long since I’ve seen him.”

Days later, Gloria asked Sophie to check Todd’s social media. As she suspected, he and Natasha were vacationing in the Maldives, using the money from the mortgage. That was the final blow.
