My Son Started Spending Most Weekends with My Ex — Here’s How I Learned to Let Go

Posted on May 25, 2025 By edm.

When my marriage ended, I was terrified of losing my son — my whole world.

At first, he stayed mostly with me during weekends, and I cherished every minute.

But slowly, things changed. He started spending more weekends at my ex-husband’s place.

I won’t lie — the feeling of losing those precious moments was crushing.

I questioned everything. Was I not enough? Was he happier with his dad?

But as time went on, I realized this wasn’t about me.

It was about what was best for my son.

Watching him laugh, play, and bond with his dad gave me peace.

Yes, I missed him. But knowing he was happy made me stronger.

Parenting after divorce is messy and painful — but sometimes, letting go is the greatest act of love.
