The teenager snapped at her, “You need to MOVE!”

Posted on May 21, 2025 By admin No Comments on The teenager snapped at her, “You need to MOVE!”

Two teenagers start harassing an elderly woman on the bus, but a homeless man steps in to stop them — an act that changes his entire life.

Molly struggled to climb the bus steps and felt relieved when a strong hand gently supported her elbow.

She smiled and said “thank you,” but then felt uneasy. The hand belonged to a tall, thin man who looked like a scarecrow — clearly homeless and unkempt.

She pulled her arm away and replied in a cold tone, “Thank you.”

The man gave a sad smile, used to the disgust and rejection he often faced.

Despite everything, Tom stayed true to himself. He watched Molly sit down, her large frame taking up two seats.

There was something about her that reminded him of his mother.

He knew his mother would be horrified to see him like this.

Tom moved to the back of the bus to sit alone, closing his eyes and leaning back.

He couldn’t stop thinking about his daughter Daisy, how tightly she had held onto him.

Two years earlier, Tom’s wife Valery was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. After she died, their lives fell apart. Tom spent all their savings and borrowed against their home for 18 months trying to pay for treatment, but it didn’t help.

After Valery’s death, Tom had to sell their house to settle debts. His employer grew tired of his absences while caring for Valery and fired him. In one day, Tom lost both his home and job. Now, with Valery gone, his only remaining family was Daisy.

They moved into a tiny apartment in a rundown building covered with graffiti and smelling of filth.

Don’t judge people by appearances. When Child Services got involved, they took Daisy away. Tom could only see her during scheduled visits at a group home.

Eventually, Tom became homeless. His only comfort was a bus ticket so he could visit Daisy.

Suddenly, a loud voice snapped Tom out of his thoughts. A drunk teenager shouted, “Hey driver! This lady needs to pay for TWO tickets!” The teen swayed and grinned, blocking Molly’s way.

His equally drunk friend joined in, “Yeah, you gotta pay extra for that second seat!”

Molly clutched her bag, frightened, as other passengers looked away, unwilling to intervene.

The first teen pressed against her chest and demanded, “You need to MOVE! Those seats belong to me and my friend.”

Molly stood her ground. “Young man, there are plenty of empty seats!”

The second teen stepped forward. “We want those seats, and you’re giving them to us!”

Tom smelled the alcohol on the teen’s breath as he reached out to touch her.

Suddenly, a strong voice warned, “Friend, keep your hands off that woman, or I’ll make you regret it!”

The teens jumped back, startled by the homeless man who had helped Molly.

Tom stood tall, looking larger and more confident than before.

He said firmly, “You two can leave now or I’ll help you off the bus.”

Fear showed in the teens’ eyes. Picking on an old woman was one thing — but challenging Tom was another.

Despite his worn clothes, Tom moved with strength and self-respect.

The bus stopped, and the teens fled, glancing nervously back at Tom.

“Ma’am, are you hurt? Do you need help?” Tom asked softly.

Tears filled Molly’s eyes as she nodded. “I’m fine. Thank you. Please, let me help you get home.”

“Of course, ma’am. I’m here to help,” Tom replied.

At her stop, Tom helped Molly off the bus and walked her to her apartment.

Over coffee and apple pie, Molly listened as Tom shared his story.

She pulled out her phone and called someone, then smiled. “My son’s farm worker just quit. He needs a hard worker — and I believe you could be that person.”

Tom was stunned. “But I don’t know anything about farming!”

Molly told her son about Tom’s strength and determination, saying he could learn quickly and had a strong reason to succeed.

She added, “The job comes with a cozy cottage, a good salary, insurance — everything you need. I think you’ll have Daisy back soon.”

Just as Molly predicted, everything changed. Tom thrived on the farm, and six months later, Child Services returned Daisy to him. They began a new life together.

How can we help each other? By helping others, we help ourselves. Tom saved Molly that day, and in return, he regained his family.

Don’t judge someone by their looks. Though Tom appeared rough, he was the one who saved Molly.
