Fallen Hero: Community Grieves the Loss of Officer Phylicia Carson
Officer Phylicia Carson, a dedicated police officer and mother of six, tragically lost her life during a high-speed chase early Sunday morning. The 33-year-old, from the Osage Beach Police Department, was on duty when the pursuit began.
While patrolling a rural road near the Lake of the Ozarks, Officer Carson spotted a speeding vehicle and attempted to pull the driver over. Instead of stopping, the suspect fled, prompting a high-speed chase. Tragically, Officer Carson lost control of her patrol car and crashed into a tree, causing a fatal explosion. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, 23-year-old Christopher Aaron Bishop Wehmeyer, continued his reckless flight until he crashed and was arrested. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.

Officer Carson, who joined the Osage Beach Police Department in June 2023, was not only a law enforcement officer but also a devoted wife and mother. Her sudden death has left a profound void in the lives of her husband, Grant Carson, and their six children.
